December FINE Newsletter: Research Review and Three Syllabi

This month's FINE Newsletter announces several new resources, including a publication reviewing current research entitled, Transforming Schools Through Community Organizing: A Research Review, as well as three syllabi from teacher education courses being taught this year at Boston College and Harvard University. As usual, this month's FINE newsletter also has links to many other new family involvement resources on the Web, including current research, toolkits, survey data, and upcoming events.

November FINE Newsletter: New Edition of the FINE Forum e-Newsletter

The Fall 2003 edition of the biannual e-newsletter published by FINE (Family Involvement Network of Educators), the FINE Forum, is now available on the FINE website. This issue asks how we can renew parent-teacher relations. It includes an interview with Sara Lawrence-Lightfoot and examines one professor's efforts to prepare teachers for parent involvement in an urban setting. This month's newsletter from FINE also includes a Member Insight on Philadelphia's new move to have teachers grade parents on their involvement, as well as links to many other new family involvement resources on the Web, including reports, articles, an event, and resources for parents and teachers.

October FINE Newsletter: Two New Summaries of Current Research

This month's FINE Newsletter announces it has added summaries of two current family involvement research projects to the Research Digest section to the FINE website—research on early literacy and faith-based community organizing. As usual, this month's FINE newsletter also has links to many other new family involvement resources on the Web, including reports, a literacy survey, a program of interest, upcoming events, information on the No Child Left Behind Act, as well as resources for parents and teachers.

September FINE Newsletter: 2003 Family Involvement Bibliography

This month's FINE Newsletter announces it has added a bibliography of family involvement research published between January and August, 2003 to the website. As usual, this month's FINE newsletter also has links to many other new family involvement resources on the Web, including books and reports, national campaigns, toolkits, information on public opinion, a workshop, and a website.

June FINE Newsletter: Family Literacy Research Report and More

This month's FINE Newsletter has added a new research report on family literacy and updated two sections of its website: the syllabi from teacher preparation courses in family involvement and bibliographies of family involvement research. We have organized the syllabi by course date, updated four of the syllabi, and added eight new syllabi. In the bibliographies section we have updated our student outcomes bibliography with research from 2002. And, as usual, this month's FINE newsletter also has links to many other family involvement resources on the Web, including suggested reading, resources for early childhood educators, toolkits, videos, and information on the No Child Left Behind Act.

May FINE Newsletter: New Workshop and 2003 Research Digests

This month's FINE Newsletter has added a number of new resources to its website, including a workshop on using family-school partnerships to improve students' reading success, three digests of family involvement research being conducted this year, and a new page in the bibliography section with links to other websites with annotated bibliographies. And, as usual, this month's FINE newsletter also has links to many other family involvement resources on the Web, including suggested reading, evaluation and assessment tools, and a website to check out.

April FINE Newsletter: New Edition of FINE Forum e-Newsletter

This month's FINE Newsletter announces the latest edition of the FINE Forum e-newsletter. The Spring 2003 edition offers promising practices to engage families and communities in supporting students' mathematical proficiency. FINE has also added a new syllabus from a course at Cambridge College entitled “Schools, Family, Community” to its website. And, as usual, this month's FINE newsletter also has links to many other family involvement resources on the Web, including suggested reading, new toolkits, standards information, and an upcoming conference.

March FINE Newsletter: New Teaching Case and Member Insights

This month's FINE Newsletter has added two new insights from FINE members to its Member Insights section. The FINE members answer the question, Are schools doing enough to learn about families? FINE has also added a new teaching case, Can We Talk About Family?, to its website. The case is accompanied by two expert commentaries. And, as usual, this month's FINE newsletter also has links to many other family involvement resources on the Web, including suggested reading, new books and resources, and an upcoming conference.

FINE has updated its 2002 midyear bibliography to cover the full year of family involvement research. It includes books, journal articles, dissertations and theses, reports, research briefs, and papers published in 2002.
