1999 Child Care Resource and Referral Agencies: Training Child Care Providers to Support Families Holly Kreider, Tracey Hurd, Heather Weiss View all publications in this series

This report profiles the family-supportive training efforts of Child Care Resource and Referral Agencies (CCR&Rs), drawing from a national survey and in-depth agency interviews. Findings show that, through their agency philosophy and services, CCR&Rs demonstrate many ways of moving families from the margins to the center of child care practice. Training is innovative in its delivery, but less consistently family-centered in content than other CCR&R services. This publication also presents a framework of family-centered training.

About this Series
The Families Matter series discusses families in the context of child care, family support, and diversity.  It describes why family support is essential as well as areas of practice through which providers can develop the knowledge and skills to partner with families.  It also discusses ways of working with children and families from diverse backgrounds, and focuses on the importance of provider training to raise program quality.
