We've added 39 new entries and updated many others in our bibliography of out-of-school time (OST) program evaluations and research studies.

This update includes a number of state-level evaluations of 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC); we now have evaluations of 23 state-level 21st CCLC programs, most of which can be found categorized as “academic/enrichment.”

You'll find evaluations and studies of programs that:

  • Develop comprehensive citywide systems of after school programs and supports (AfterZone Initiative, CincyAfterSchool, and the Engaging Older Youth study)
  • Seek to increase children’s physical health through fitness and sports activities (After-School All-Stars, America SCORES, Boys & Girls Clubs of America—Triple Play Program, and a research review of Integrating Sports and Physical Activity into Out-of-School Time Programs)
  • Use out-of-school hours to help extend in-school learning through state level initiatives and funding (Extended Learning Time Programs—South Carolina, Extra Time Programs—Delaware, Lottery for Education: Afterschool Programs—Tennessee, and After School for All Program—Louisiana)
  • Focus on technology skills to help youth pursue career paths in technology-related fields (Girl Game Company,  Internet Community of Design Engineers Program, and Youth Radio)

ABOUT THE OST BIBLIOGRAPHY
The Harvard Family Research Project Out-of-School Time Program Research and Evaluation Bibliography contains citations for all of the OST program evaluations and research studies that HFRP is currently tracking. Some of these evaluations and research studies have also been profiled and added to our Out-of-School Time Program Research and Evaluation Database.
