We are introducing our new approach to address the achievement gap—complementary learning. We believe that for all children to be successful, there must be an array of linked learning supports around them. These supports, which must reach beyond the school, should work toward consistent learning and developmental outcomes for children. HFRP calls this network of supports complementary learning. The new complementary learning section of our website explores this concept further. It provides examples of supports and links to our relevant publications and resources, which we plan to expand over the coming months. We also plan to launch a new series of publications on complementary learning in early 2006.
