Year-Round Learning: Linking School, Afterschool, and Summer Learning to Support Student Success
The Beyond School blog on the Education Week website covered the release of Harvard Family Research Project’s recent research brief “Year-Round Learning: Linking School, Afterschool, and Summer Learning to Support Student Success.”
Offering examples of year-round learning efforts from 14 initiatives across the K–12 system, the brief introduces and analyzes one approach to expanded learning that provides students—often in distressed areas—with access to quality learning environments across the year. Six of the 14 initiatives studied are profiled in an appendix.
The blog post highlights the fact that the sustainability of year-round learning programs is highly dependent on community support, local resources, and sharing student data in order to create "seamless," cohesive year-round learning support.
