The Adventures in Positive Psychology blog recently posted an interview with Dr. Marilyn Price-Mitchell about her work in the positive youth development field. She describes positive youth development as a holistic, strengths-based approach to child development that focuses on helping children achieve well-being, rather than on treating developmental deficiencies.

When asked about exciting trends taking place in the field, Dr. Price-Mitchell cited out-of-school time (OST) programs as a major contributor to positive youth development, and pointed to Harvard Family Research Project as a leader in conducting and synthesizing OST research.

Dr. Price-Mitchell cofounded the National ParentNet Association in 1996, a nonprofit with the mission to build family, school, and community partnerships that help kids thrive.
