It’s parent–teacher conference season, and families and educators alike are looking for guidance about how to make the best use of this important home–school communication. Holly Korbey, of the NPR/KQED-sponsored MindShift blog, recently interviewed Harvard Family Research Project’s Heidi Rosenberg for suggestions on how to maximize the value of parent–teacher conferences.

How to Get the Most Out of a Parent–Teacher Conference features HFRP’s Parent-Teacher Conference Tip Sheets and highlights the importance of educators and families sharing responsibility for student learning. The post also calls attention to HFRP’s emphasis on broadening the definition of family engagement to include all the contexts in which children can learn, including home, school, after-school programs, and community organizations such as museums and libraries.
