The Beyond School blog on the Education Week website recently covered the release of Research Update No. 5: STEM Out-of-School Time Programs for Girls, a new report by Harvard Family Research Project. The report highlights findings from the evaluations and research studies in our Out-of-School Time Program (OST) Research and Evaluation Database that focus on STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) programs for girls.
OST programs that focus on girls' involvement in STEM can play an essential role in improving female representation in these traditionally male-dominated fields. However, barriers to quality implementation and outcome-based evaluation present challenges for STEM programs serving girls.
