This article appears in The Florida Times-Union (on Jacksonville.com), in the opinion section.  It profiles what Jacksonville Children's Commission is doing to implement a Complementary Learning system:

Excerpt from the article:

"The Children's Commission was recognized by Harvard University for its complementary learning system. Among the factors:

  • They create a web of opportunity, not a series of cracks for children to fall through.
  • They provide children with access to opportunities that are the norm for middle-class families.
  • They promote success for every age of childhood, rather than stop abruptly in middle school, for instance."
