Parents and educators are often looking to engage children in using mobile devices and apps in ways that are both fun and educational. In 5 App and Mobile Use Guides for Parents, Edutopia points to the ubiquity of mobile devices among children and highlights recommended resources that families and educators can turn to.

Harvard Family Research Project SNAPSHOT! The Holidays Are Here. Which Apps Will You Share With the Children in Your Life? was highlighted among the five guides for providing creative ways on how to use apps during family time and to engage children in learning anywhere, anytime. Taking advantage of these resources, families and educators can guide mobile use to spark creativity, access fun education games, take virtual museum exhibit tours, explore the night sky, as well as read and share books.

The collection of guides highlighted by Edutopia provides more information on the duration of screen time, ages to introduce mobile devices to children, guidelines for children on the use of the devices, safety of children online, and recommendations for specific apps.
