Find out how program leaders are creating “a parent-friendly, strength- and evidence-based, sustainable system of family engagement” to close the opportunity gap. This web conference considers ways to partner with all families—especially those who do not have built-in advantages—to understand what they can do to ensure that their children are successful.

Join panelists Sandra Gutierrez, National Director of Abriendo Puertas/Opening Doors, and Trise Moore, Family Partnership Advocate for the Federal Way Public Schools district, as they share their reflections and respond to audience questions in a lively 60-minute web conference, Using Leadership to Promote Strengths-Based Family Engagement Approaches, on November 12, 2013.

Tips from the web conference include:

  • Reinforce parents’ awareness of the important roles that they play in their homes and in their children’s lives.
  • Provide parents with skills to help them feel confident about making decisions that are vital to their family’s and children’s outcomes.
  • Always start from a positive perspective—let parents know that opportunities are within reach.
  • Assure parents, particularly those with little or no formal education, that they have a powerful voice and that they should feel confident about using it.

You can access the archive of the web conference at any time. And, to stay informed of future HFRP Interact events, sign up for our mailing list.
