What is FINE?
HFRP’s Family Involvement Network of Educators (FINE) is a strategic effort to strengthen family and community engagement to support children’s learning and development. FINE brings together thousands of educators, practitioners, policymakers, and researchers dedicated to strengthening family–school–community partnerships. Members get the latest information about family involvement research, as well as the opportunity to connect with others in the field.

Our Vision for FINE
Harvard Family Research Project launched FINE in November 2000 to serve as a hub for family engagement in children's education and to facilitate connections and communications among a wide range of colleagues in the family involvement arena. We believe that engaging families and communities in education is essential to achieving high-performing schools and successful students. Through FINE, we hope to contribute to a future in which:

  • School leaders and teachers are adequately prepared to build partnerships with families and communities.
  • Creative approaches to family educational involvement are based on family strengths, mutual respect, trusting relationships, and parent empowerment.
  • Collaborative school–community partnerships enrich children's development and learning in school and community contexts.
