Issue Topic: Family Engagement as a Shared Responsibility

Resources & Research From Harvard Family Research Project

We at Harvard Family Research Project (HFRP) recently added a new section to our website  to inform stakeholders of our policy-related work in family engagement that stresses a shared responsibility for student success that is continuous from birth to young adulthood and occurs in the home, school and community. Our efforts to inform policy contribute to the development of a strong infrastructure for family engagement, support research and evaluation for learning, and create a knowledge base of promising practices in the field.

As part of this work, we are a founding member of the National Family, School, and Community Working Group, provide technical assistance to the federally-funded Parental Information and Resources Centers (PIRC), and create policy briefs that inform policymakers and education advocates about break-through strategies and evidence-based policies that promote family engagement as a means to achieve student success.

Please visit our new policy page for more details about this work, including our recent comments in the Federal Register regarding the U.S. Department of Education’s $4.35 billion Race to the Top Fund competitive grants program.
